Moroccan mirror with bone inlays

Traditional Moroccan mirror, handmade from wood using the traditional marquetry technique, decorated with gilded metal and bone inlays featuring figures representative of Moroccan culture. The marquetry technique is an ancient art form that requires skill and time to master. Each artisan can take several weeks to create these pieces, using animal bone that is shaped by cutting, crushing, and sawing each piece by hand to fit a specific design. Colored resin is then applied with a trowel to the entire surface; the resin and bone are sanded smooth and then polished for the final touch. This process and the natural materials give each piece a distinctive character.
